FUR FACTS

Here are some points of interest about our organization:

  • Total number of kittens in 2008 was 267
  • We had a few other visitors last year: 5 baby squirrels, 2 puppies, 3 not so tiny felines
  • Smallest orphan so far was a tiny kitten weighing in at approximately 43 grams
  • Sydney , Nova Scotia was the farthest point from which we had babies delivered
  • The youngest orphans were from a C-section delivery where the mother had been hit by a car and unfortunately did not survive
  • Most kittens in one litter: seven
  • Most kittens adopted by one family: three
  • First arrivals we accepted this year came on January 13 th ,2009 (a litter of 6 puppies that had been tossed out on the side of the road in a garbage bag)
  • We have a total of five foster homes/families that can be called upon for help
  • The survival rate of the newborns has almost doubled with the use of the incubator which maintains a constant body temperature
